CBG can be thought of as the premier cannabinoid in cannabis. It’s the first cannabinoid the plant makes - the initial building block of popular cannabinoids such as CBD & THC.

Most mainstream cannabis contains very low percentages of CBG in their ripe form due the fact that it will convert from CBGa (it’s natural acidic form) to the likes of THCa, CBDa and CBCa.

If you were to harvest cannabis early into its flower cycle, it’s likely that a cannabinoid analysis would present higher CBGa levels than in it’s more mature stages.

How does CBGa turn into THCa & CBDa?

Enzymes in cannabis break CBGa down after being exposed to ultraviolet light/heat and become cannabinoids such as CBD, THC and CBC. In most strains, the CBGa converts very quickly into THCa and CBDa, therefore strains that have high levels of THCa tend to have low levels of CBD and CBG (and vice versa).

What does CBG feel like?

CBG is currently being researched for the role it plays in the human body’s built in endocannabinoid system (ECS) - a system that works to keep the body in its balanced state of homeostasis. We’re limited in what we can say regarding its health benefits, a quick look at online cannabis forums and you’ll notice why many ill people are turning towards this impactful cannabinoid.

The cannabinoid feels different to THC because it is not psychoactive. Patients who have observed that CBG taken in high concentrations (such as flowers with +5% CBG) have noted feeling a mild sense of euphoria as well as some relaxation of the brain and muscles. Unlike THC, we have not observed feedback regarding intoxicating or dizzy effects from large doses. In many ways CBG can feel similar to CBD and many of our customers share their experiences using it to promote their sleep and enjoy it’s calming effects.

The story of the CBG strain

We have The Goods to thank for some of the best CBG genetics in Europe. 3 years ago, whilst undertaking a 250,000 plant outdoor grow, the team at The Goods discovered a phenotype on their farm that intrigued local growers. In its final stage of flowering, all the leaves turned black and the bud eventually did the same. When analyzed, the strain presented absolutely no THC (not even a trace) and averaged 15% CBGa! This freak strain was quickly taken to R&D where seeds and clones were developed. The Goods worked on the strain for 2 years to stabilize the new genetic and cross breed it into many of the CBD strains that we know and love so as to enhance the natural presence of CBG across the board.

The strain is called Patanegre due to the region it was created and the similarity in colour to the famous Spanish prosciutto. Due to it’s uniquely high % of CBGa it gives people the chance to actually see the difference in how the trichomes look. CBG trichome “heads” are significantly bigger than those of THC and CBD, and trap even more light when gazing upon them. This gives CBG dominant flowers an almost metallic/silver shine.

The Goods did their first dry sift of this new Genetic last year to see how much hash the plant could yield. The experiment immediately faced a big problem! The CBGa trichome heads were too big to pass through the standard micron bags the trichomes were sifted through. After some testing the micron bag issue was overcome and an incredibly terpene rich, and uniquely silver dry sift hash was produced (and inevitably smoked by the team).

How to pass a drugs test for weed?

March 26, 2023

It’s never a good day when you find yourself urgently googling how to pass a weed test, and online advice can often be manipulated or mythical. In this blog, we’re going to present you with the facts you’ll need to answer what we hope is a question we’ll ask less over time.

How long does weed stay in your system?

  1. Saliva test: 1-7 days (daily consumer)
  2. Hair test: 90-120 days (daily consumer
  3. Blood test: 45-60 days
  4. Urine test: 30-45 days (daily consumer)

The 3 factors that determine how long your body will test positive for weed?

  1. Levels of THC in the body
  2. Metabolic rate
  3. Body Mass

Everybody handles weed differently, not just on an endocannabinoid level but throughout many of our bodies systems; age, body mass, metabolism, frequency of exposure, duration of exposure, potency of cannabis consumed.

Most people will no longer test for THC in their system 4-6 weeks after their last consummation. However, because THC is fat soluble, it can get stored in the body's fat cells and organs for unpredictable lengths of time. People that consume infrequently will show less stored THC in their fat cells, whereas daily smokers will show more.

The 4 types of weed tests?

  1. Urine test
    1. This is the most common method of drug testing, commonly used by employers due to it’s convenience and low cost.
    2. Immunoassay tests are fast and cheap however they can show false positives. Positive tests are backed up by a second test to mitigate errors.
    3. Gas chromatography tests are more expensive and take longer, however they are more accurate.
  2. Hair test
    1. Hair testing is growing in popularity due to its ability to trace drug use back further than other tests.
    2. The test actually involves two tests; enzyme linked immunosorbent assay & GC/MS.
    3. The first inch and a half of hair from the scalp is analysed. This is because the average hair on your scalp grows at the rate of half an inch per month.
    4. The inch and a half of hair taken for the test will be able to detect THC use for around 90 days.
    5. It is not the most accurate test method, THC can take up  to a week to show in your hair, and some medications have been known to produce false positives.
  3. Blood test
    1. This is uncommon and usually happens when an employee is sanctioned for a drug test.
    2. This is the most accurate testing method - after smoking THC, it will be detectable in blood within a matter of seconds.
    3. Even a single puff can cause for THC to be detectable in your blood for up to 7 days.
  4. Saliva test
    1. This is the least common testing method, used at roadside drug testing.
    2. Whilst they are accurate, a saliva test is only effective in detecting recent cannabis use. Because of this, law enforcement use saliva tests to determine if someone is operating a vehicle under the influence.

Ways to beat the test

The first thing you’ll need to beat the test is time! The more days or weeks you have to detox your body, the better. Here are some proven ways to increase your body's detoxification process;

  1. Natural Cleanse
    1. Most people complete a natural cleanse in 30-60 days.
    2. The process involves changing your eating and drinking habits to help detox THC that is stored in the system.
    3. Everyone detoxes at a different pace, heavy users especially will take longer.
  2. Detox Drinks
    1. These are a great immediate way to aid in passing a test. They can create a window in which you can test clean.
    2. However, some detox products can alert urine tests that the urine is not genuine.
    3. Urine tests are looking at many variables to certify authenticity, such as; color, temperature, creatinine levels, pH levels, and the presence of uric acid.
  3. Detox Kits
    1. A good detox kit can create a window in which you can test negative without alerting the test that the urine has been stripped. They take about 5-10 days to become effective.
    2. Unlike detox drinks, which only work for a few hours, a good detox kit will permanently flush your system of traceable THC.
    3. These kits even include a shampoo that can assist in removing trace THC from the hair.

A Guide to CBD Diamonds and Sauce

March 26, 2023

CBD diamonds and cannabis diamonds in general are a concentrated form of cannabis that you can smoke or vape. They are called diamonds because of their appearance (and purity), with solid crystalline structures that are semi-transparent and ooze intrigue.

Something to note early on - CBD diamonds, in their packaged form, are actually CBDa! For the sake of simplicity, they are often called CBD diamonds because once they are vaporized or smoked, they convert into CBD.

A product like CBD diamonds, or any concentrate for that matter, can be a bit daunting for a first time cannabis user. The process by which they are consumed involves some risky apparatus, and the purity and strength of these products are as strong as it gets - often reaching over 90% CBD.

What is CBDa?

CBDa is the natural precursor to CBD. The “a” tells us that it is the “acidic” form of CBD. When the acidic form is decarboxylated (usually via heat), CBDa transforms to CBD.

Decarboxylation can occur under a few conditions. Temperature rise is the most common cause, however, over time most acidic forms of cannabinoids will naturally undergo this process. In terms of its chemical composition, the process removes one acidic carboxyl group from its molecular chain.

CBDa is at the frontier of cannabis medical research. Some research is looking at how CBDa can potentially be more effective at treating certain conditions than CBD.

How are CBD Diamonds made?

CBD diamonds can be made in a multitude of ways. First cannabis should be concentrated - one way to do this is to create a solventless rosin. The next step should begin the process of isolating the desired cannabinoid (CBDa) and allowing the growth of that cannabinoid to crystallize. This can be done by using a solvent - our preferred way of doing this is by using terpenes. As you may know, terpenes are incredibly expensive due to the scarcity of them in cannabis, so this process is not cheap. The final stage in the process involves adjusting variables such as heat and pressure.

How Do You Consume CBD Diamonds?

Similar to CBD wax and CBD shatter, the most popular way to consume CBD diamonds is via dabbing. Dabbing was once a hard concept to introduce to people due to the need for very high temperatures and often some hazardous steps. Now that the industry has matured, there are much easier solutions to help you dab CBD diamonds. A pocket Dab Pen like the Linx Ember can handle a lentil sized diamond dab, and help you take high doses of CBD on the go nearly anywhere. The Dynavap can also handle CBD diamond dabs - they’ve even created a dabbing attachment called the Dynacoil which really does transform it into a dabbing companion.

CBD diamonds can also be dissolved into fats and oils for use both orally (edibles, drops, etc.) and topical creams. This could be an interesting option for people that are keen to consume CBDa as opposed to CBD. Avoiding dabbing can prevent the CBDa from converting to CBD.

You can also crush CBD diamonds up and sprinkle them into joints to add a very high concentration of CBD to enhance the terpenes and flavour in that joint.

Why Aren’t All CBD Diamonds Equal?

CBD Diamonds are a very specialised product, if the manufacturer doesn’t understand cannabis to a chemical level, it’s likely they won’t understand how to make pure CBD diamonds. Bad CBD diamonds can contain impurities such as propane, hexane and other dangerous materials which are extremely harmful to the human body.

This is why we only carry The Goods CBD diamonds. The only solvent used in the process are natural terpenes, which are food grade and made for human consumption. They also have the scientific knowledge to understand how to mine for CBDa and yield what we believe are the most beautiful diamonds on the market. They lab test each batch and know how to provide consistent quality CBD diamonds.

We’ve seen some brands even sell a blend of CBD isolate and distillate sauce which is NOT the same as CBD diamonds as this does not form diamonds, and CBD isolates are not the same as CBDa diamonds. It’s important to trust the experts when buying CBD concentrates due to the nature of concentrates - any impurities witll ultimately be concentrated.

Things To Do While High: Top 5 Free Stoner Activities

March 26, 2023

If you’ve met our team before, you’ll know that we do be smoking - actually more so vaping these days. Cannabis has been the centre of our lives for many years, and through countless experiences, we’ve perfected the art of the “Sesh”. It’s important to have things to do when high, an activity-free sesh might as well be time wasted! It’s not uncommon for cannabis smokers to find themselves high and unsure what to do to enjoy the relaxing and creative effects.

The idea of finding a fun activity might even be daunting. Plenty of smokers spend staggering amounts of money on highly sought after cannabis imports, leaving them with very little in terms of disposable income. How do you pay for fun things to do when you’ve spent all your money on weed? For us, often the best things to do while high cost nothing. Perhaps this is because cannabis consumption releases Dopamine, the “happy chemical”, into our bodies. Here’s our top 5 free high activities for you to do pretty much anywhere in the world.

Join An Online High Stream Sesh

Online high stream sesh

This is the easiest way to partake in an activity while high - all you have to do is log onto a 420 livestream and watch while inhaling. Stoner livestreams can vary widely, some are more focused on talking about cannabis itself, others might be stoner challenged channels that are trying to push the human limits of what is possible.

If someone was to tell us that cannabis live streams would be a thing many years ago, we’d find it very hard to believe. The times have changed, especially since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and humans have been craving more contact than ever before. Being able to talk directly to fellow smokers, play games with them and form friendships all at the safety and comfort of our keyboards make this one of our top stoner activities!

Our top 3 420 weed streamers to watch on Twitch are:

  1. TheGoods_Marti
  2. DrewIsSharing
  3. Bensmokes

Video Games That Go Well With Weed

video games

Most stoners can unanimously agree that video games are better when high. Even the thought of getting high and loading up a nostalgic game gets us excited. However, we’re keeping this list exclusive to free stoner activities only, and video games can cost huge amounts of money.

You might think that playing free games while high is no fun, but we beg to differ. There’s nothing fun about playing games that we’re not good at and can’t win. When it comes to performing well in games, one of the most important skills is fast coordination. Cannabis has been found to impair human coordination, putting stoners at a disadvantage when playing expensive paid games. For that reason we much prefer getting lost in simple old school browser games when we’re sky high. Here’s out top 3 online games to play when high, beware that number 1 is insanely addictive:

  1. Slither.io
  2. Cookie Clicker
  3. Wordle

Visit The Metaverse And Smoke Virtual Weed

virtual weed in Metaverse

The metaverse has become one of the biggest buzzwords of 2022. In case you’ve been living under a rock though, the metaverse is essentially an online virtual reality world that lets you immerse yourself in virtual landscapes and properties to simulate many real life activities. We really like how it can bring together friends separated by distance so that they can do things like watch a movie at a virtual cinema, or take a walk in a virtual forest.

Arguably one of the coolest things you can now do in the metaverse is buy weed. You heard that correctly, people can window shop cannabis while in the metaverse, and in some cases that virtual weed can actually be redeemed for actual bud in real life.

This article is about the free things you can do while high, and it’s unlikely there will be any free virtual weed waiting for us in the metaverse. Here are our top 3 free things to do in the metaverse while high:

  1. Meet people and challenge them to games, like Boxing Boyz
  2. Window shop virtual cannabis
  3. Spend hours building your perfect 3D avatar

Find Some Cannabis Drama On Discord

smoking cannabis

It’s hard to explain why dramatic news thrills us more when high. Especially when the drama involves the cannabis scene. Our thoughts for why there’s so much juicy drama in the cannabis space are more to do with THC than anything else. THC is well known for having the potential for causing paranoia, especially in people that don’t understand what a sensible dose is and how to supplement other cannabinoids to protect the brain.

There are few cannabis Discord servers with as much drama specific to the cannabis space as The Goods Discord server. Anything from shady businesses, alarming arrests, or community beefs will make their way to The Goods Discord server in no time. What we like about Discord is that you can immediately start talking to people about cannabis topics, and in no time you’ll find yourself virtual “seshing” with people from all over the world. Get Ridiculously High

cannabis

We’ve been holding back some activities that we think are perhaps too inappropriate for the masses, however this one got the green light. The concept of getting ridiculously high can seem scary, especially for non-smokers that think that this might be a way to risk overdosing on cannabis. The truth is, you cannot physically overdose on cannabis because it is impossible to consume its lethal quantities. You can however stimulate every single CB1 receptor in your brain until you feel like you’ve been sent to space.

While trying to get as high as possible, it is important to remember that our health matters too. It will take a few inhales to get very high, so for this activity we recommend using a vaporiser and sparing your lungs the carcinogens from joints. For most of us, 150mg of THC is more than enough to get extremely high. Assuming your THC flower is 15% THC, 1g of such a flower would give you 150mg THC. Vaping is a much more efficient consumption method than smoking a joint, and it’s likely that a few inhales through a vaporiser would be enough to get incredibly high.

You can supplement health fats into your diet to increase the potency of your cannabis too. This is because cannabinoids are fat soluble, so the presence of fat in your diet will help you metabolise and absorb more THC.

If you decide that this will be your chosen stoner activity, we advise letting a friend know just incase you'll need help. To mitigate the risk of paranoia, black peppers can also be a great thing to have on hand, chewing them releases the terpene Caryophyllene which is known for reducing anxiety

How to get away with cannabis possession like Outlaw UK

March 26, 2023

Outlaw Recently published a blog post titled “Cannabis is Legal” in which the masked activist wrote that cannabis is legal in the UK, and that the police have no grounds to charge people for cannabis offences.

Outlaw Recently published a blog post titled “Cannabis is Legal” in which the masked activist wrote that cannabis is legal in the UK, and that the police have no grounds to charge people for cannabis offences.

Outlaw’s blog post gives readers an option; to agree or disagree with this opinion, and inform the police that they are not “unlawfully” in possession of any “controlled” substance.

Outlaw says “Cannabis Is Legal”

police and cannabis offences

This statement might immediately seem flawed to most, as we are all familiar with the police's stance on cannabis “offences”. However, activist/music producer Outlaw digs deeper into what he means by “Cannabis is Legal” in his opening paragraph:

“It’s clear to me that ‘cannabis’ is legal and therefore it’s use and possession is defendable - that’s without even explaining why the Government’s list of drugs controlled under the misuse of drugs legislation clearly states that ‘cannabis’ is not a controlled or scheduled substance”

He makes the very valid point that cannabis legal definitions are hugely contradictory, and this is one such situation that confuses it’s legality. According to NICE,  “controlled drugs” are closely regulated as they are susceptible to being misused or diverted and can cause harm. You can understand the confusion from the government's choice to not define cannabis as a controlled drug.

“The fact that the ex-drugs minister (responsible for the UK’s drugs policy) and ex-prime minister (Theresa May) are both married to people who own or profit from growing acres of cannabis in the UK should tell you that ‘cannabis’ isn’t illegal anymore. This kind of business wouldn’t be allowed in accordance with the unamended, original Misuse of Drugs Act in 1971.”

It is clear Outlaw is speaking out about the openly murky relationship between government employees and the cannabis company GW Pharma. This is by no means grounds for cannabis to be deemed 100% legal, but at the very least, should it not prove that cannabis “offences” should be dealt with outside of criminal courts? If a company with shareholders who are spouses of parliament workers can obtain rare cannabis cultivation licenses, surely the real offence in cultivating cannabis at home would be the lack of license?

He then alludes to a scenario in which a person may collect someone's legal cannabis medication on their behalf, and technically be able to transport cannabis on their person legally in the UK.

“With that considered, most cannabis and its use fits the criteria for a legal ‘cannabis based medicinal product’, known as a ‘CBMP’:”

“Regulation 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations defines a ‘CBPM’ as:”

“cannabis-based product for medicinal use in humans” means a preparation or other product, other than one to which paragraph 5 of part 1 of Schedule 4 applies, which—

(a) is or contains cannabis, cannabis resin, cannabinol or a cannabinol derivative (not being dronabinol or its stereoisomers);

(b) is produced for medicinal use in humans; and—

(c) is—

(i) a medicinal product, or

(ii) a substance or preparation for use as an ingredient of, or in the production of an ingredient of, a medicinal product;”

“If a person is using or in possession of a ‘cannabis product’ for a simple medicinal reason (not medical reason), the cannabis could be a legal CBMP.”

“You are allowed to collect somebody's prescription and medication for them in the UK - cannabis and cannabis flower is a prescribable medicine.”

“To be clear, this is regarding possession of or using a CBPM - there are many strict provisions and restrictions for supplying a CBPM.”

Without a doubt, this interesting scenario does open up some options for people to consider when transporting cannabis in the UK. Not all cannabis is recognized as medical cannabis unfortunately, it needs to come from an “authorized” clinic.

Outlaw’s advice: What to do if you are caught with weed?

Outlaw mentions the importance of carefully picking your words when caught with cannabis by the police. If they decide to press charges and take you to court, you’ll be challenged on your original narrative from the arrest scene.

Outlaw’s advice is to say, “I’m not unlawfully in possession of a controlled substance”, so that this can be picked back up in court when the defence is fought.

What he is trying to achieve with this statement is to use the terminology that the courts and officers are familiar with to demonstrate that no law is intentionally being broken. Since cannabis is not believed to be illegal, no crime was intended by its transportation.

To clear up how to follow up that short and brief statement to the police, Outlaw advises to repeat, rather than explain. In his blog, Outlaw says, “If I’m arrested and questioned, I repeat myself - I don’t explain myself - “I’m not unlawfully in possession of a controlled substance.” The only thing I would mention to the police is what I will later rely on in order to successfully defend myself”.

What Outlaw sees for cannabis in 2022

guy smoking cannabis

This year, Outlaw has made it public that he aims to aid more cannabis related criminal cases than ever before. He says, “In 2022 we’re going to be appealing lots of decisions in order to set a legal precedent and we won’t stop until there’s a precedent for all cannabis related charges. Once I know what I’d say to successfully defend the driving offences and cultivation I’ll let you know.”

Perhaps in 2022 we’ll see Outlaw share more information about ways UK citizens can empower their rights to hold cannabis legally.

Summary

There is something comedic about how a man named Outlaw teaching cannabis consumers how legalise themselves. His argument, that claim cannabis is already legal, goes strongly against the non-law abiding image that one conjures of an outlaw.

The reality is that Outlaw is protecting us from the police. Perhaps that is why he’s become a viral sensation? What does Outlaw have to gain from anonymous fame, other than to help people out and find ways to pave the way for legal cannabis.

He says, “A prosecution/caution for cannabis possession/use will not be successful if it has not been agreed that the substance is a controlled substance and the prosecution cannot prove that it is.”

He’s telling readers that users should not challenge the law, but rather, they should use the law as evidence that cannabis cannot be illegal; to accept nothing, dispute everything and request evidence.

How to Roll the Perfect Joint

March 26, 2023

There are a few life skills that are essential to living a good life. Cooking is one. Using a washing machine is another. And then there’s perhaps the most important one - rolling a joint.

However, just twisting up some weed in a rolling paper and clumsily sticking it down isn’t going to cut it. Joint rolling is an art, you see.

Therefore, if you want to stand out among your fellow stoners, you need to learn how to roll a perfect joint.

But before we break down exactly how you can do that, let’s learn a thing or two about joints.

History of the joint

The cannabis joint originates in Mexico, with the first reported use coming from a pharmacist at the University of Guadalajara in 1850. Back then, joints were being smoked on the fields by laborers who mixed weed with tobacco in their cigarettes.

The term ‘roach’ - which is the paper or card filter used in joints - is thought to have also originated in Mexico, inspired by the popular Mexican folk song La Cucaracha ("The Cockroach"). The song is about a cockroach who cannot walk because he doesn't have any cannabis to smoke.

A couple of decades later, joints were commercially available in the US - being advertised in medical journals as a treatment for respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis (THC is now a proven bronchodilator).

By the 1920s, alcohol prohibition was enacted in the US and this saw the rise of speakeasies. These underground jazz clubs were havens of for the illegal consumption of whiskey and ‘reefer’, which was not yet outlawed.

During this time, jazz music grew in popularity and touring jazz musicians helped spread the use of ‘jazz cigarettes’ around the country and even abroad.

In 1937, after years of racially-charged media propaganda, “Reefer Madness” came to a head in the Marihuana Tax Act, which essentially outlawed the possession and sale of the plant.

By the 1960s, the anti-authoritarian counter-culture was in full swing. War-opposing hippies shared love, peace and joints at festivals like Woodstock and cannabis cemented itself as a symbol of the movement.

Nowadays, while legal markets are being established all over the world, including in many US states, cannabis and the cannabis joint remain a potent embodiment of personal freedom and sovereignty.

What makes a perfect joint?

cannabis connoisseurs can be very particular. Particular about the weed they consume (the strain, how it’s grown, how it’s cured etc.); about how they consume (joints, bongs, vape, dabs, etc); and especially about how their joints are rolled.

Some will prefer short, stumpy joints with fat roaches, while others will demand big, back-rolled bats with tight roaches. So, at the end of the day, a lot comes down to preference.

However, there are a few things that most joint-lovers can agree on. For example, the perfect joint will…

  • Burn evenly
  • Not go out every few seconds
  • Have good airflow
  • Not fall apart
  • Impress your peers

Now, there are a number of ways to create a joint that achieves all this, including using a joint-rolling machine. But, for the sake of this article, we’ll break down the easiest, most common way to roll a perfect joint by hand.

What you’ll need

Before you can roll the perfect spliff, you need to make sure you have a few pieces of equipment to hand.

  • Rolling papers (large/king size are best)

Obviously, if you want to roll the perfect joint, you’ll need good quality rolling papers. King size Raws are a good option you can find in all smoke shops. OCB blacks or Rizla silvers are also favoured by many.

  • Filter tips

In order to make a ‘roach’, you’ll need filter tips. These provide stability and shape to the joint and allow for steady airflow. Some rolling papers come with these tips. Alternatively, you can use a thin piece of card.

  • Grinder or scissors

In order to roll the perfect joint, you’ll need to grind or chop up your weed to the right consistency. A grinder will do this best - a three-piece or simple plastic grinder will do - or alternatively you could just use a pair of scissors.

  • Rolling tray or plate

For somewhere to put your ground-up weed, a rolling tray is ideal but a plate/bowl works just as well. Just don’t sneeze on it.

  • Cannabis

Ah yes, the star of the show. Make sure you have a gram or more of your favourite strain. After all, the perfect joint deserves to be rolled with the best weed you can get your hands on.

  • Tobacco/herbal mix (optional)

Now, combining tobacco with cannabis is a practice that has existed since joints were first smoked over a hundred years ago in Mexico. While it is still very popular in Europe to this day, it’s certainly not for everyone - modern processed tobacco comes with a host of health risks. However, if you find pure weed joints too strong (which many do), you could try mixing it with a herbal mix or even CBD flower.

  • Poker

A thin pencil or something similar will work just fine. You just need something that will allow you to push down the weed in the joint in order to make sure it’s compact.

How to roll the perfect joint

In order to roll the perfect joint, follow the steps below. And don’t worry if you don’t get it right the first time. It can be a hard skill to master - but practice makes perfect.

Step 1: Grind

Grab your grinder or scissors and about a gram of weed, and get grinding/chopping. You want your weed to be fine enough that it easily crumbles between your fingers with no lumps, but not so fine that it becomes dust-like.

Make sure to remove any stems and seeds before and during grinding. Dump your ground-up weed on your rolling tray or plate/bowl.

Step 2: Put the weed on the rolling paper

Pull out a single rolling paper, smooth the crease down with your fingers, and place it on your tray/plate with the sticky side facing up on the edge farthest from you.

Sprinkle your weed along the crease of the rolling paper, leaving a 1-2cm gap on the right-hand side of the paper for your roach (some people prefer rolling with the roach on the left). Make sure the amount of weed slightly increases from right to left so that you get a slight conical shape when rolling.

Step 3: Roll your roach and place on paper

Grab either a filter tip or a piece of thin card (about 1cm X 2cm) and roll it up. You don’t want it too small (will restrict airflow) or too big (will not stop weed from being sucked into your mouth). About 4mm in diameter will do. Once rolled, put it on the paper in the gap you made on the right edge.

Step 4: Pick up rolling paper and roll a sausage

Carefully pick up the paper, trying not to disrupt the weed or roach, and hold it in both hands. Hold the roach end with your first two fingers and thumb, with your thumb at the front, and roll the paper-covered weed into a sausage that is tight to the roach but gets thicker as it goes to the left.

Step 5: Tuck, lick and stick

Hopefully, it should start to take the shape of a cone-like joint by now. This next part can be tricky, but basically you’re going to try to gently roll the non-sticky edge of the paper around and over the weed-sausage in order to make a cone.

You then need to lick the sticky bit of the paper, before smoothing it down with your fingers. This may take some practice to perfect.

Step 6: Tap down and add fill cone

You should now have your joint nicely rolled, but it’s not quite ready to smoke just yet. In order to make sure it’s nice and tight, you’re going to have to tap it on a hard surface like a table.

Hold the joint like you would a pen, with the roach at the bottom, and tap it fairly gently so the weed compacts downwards. You can then add more weed to fill up the joint, followed by more tapping.

Step 7: Poke and twist

Use your poker instrument to poke down the weed in the joint and make it nice and compact. Then, twist the end of the paper so that no weed can fall out.

Step 8: Light it and puff

Hold a flame to the twisted end of the joint and wait for it to burn off. Then, while holding the flame near the end, take a few puffs to get it burning.

Lastly, sit back, relax, and smoke your perfect joint. Feel free to pat yourself on the back as well. You deserve it!

Summary

So, there you have it. You now have all you need to roll the perfect joint. While it’s far from easy and might take a while to perfect, if you keep practising, before you know it, you’ll be impressing friends and strangers alike with your superior joint-rolling ability.

Let us know how you go in your quest for the perfect joint in the comments.

What to do when you get too high

March 26, 2023

You’ve had a few puffs too many and your heart is pumping. You can feel it banging away in your chest.

Your breathing is fast and shallow and you are so caught up in your own racing thoughts that you’re not sure what’s going on in your surroundings. This makes you paranoid and anxious.

If you’ve smoked weed, there’s a good chance you’ve experiences something like this at least once. In fact, moderate to high doses of THC commonly have these effects - especially in inexperienced cannabis consumers.

But fear not. As well as describing ways to avoid the negative effects of THC, this article will explain what you should do if you do get too high. You’re in good hands.

How high is too high?

Now, of course, the question of how high is too high is very subjective. Your tolerance to THC depends on a number of factors including your current THC use, age, sex, health, and plenty more.

Having said that, the negative effects of too much THC are pretty universal. They are:

  • Anxiety
  • Paranoia
  • Increased heart rate
  • Racing mind/inability to focus on one thought
  • Short-term memory problems

Much rarer negative effects include:

  • Confusion
  • Dizziness/fainting
  • Hallucinations (visual and/or auditory)
  • Vomiting/nausea

If you find yourself experiencing any of these effects after consuming cannabis, you can be pretty sure that you’ve had too much THC.

How to avoid getting too high?

If you want to make sure you don’t get any negative effects from THC, then there are a number of precautions you can take.

  • Stick to dry herb vaping
  • A dry herb vaporiser heats your bud to temperatures hot enough to vaporise the plant’s oils - which is where you find the cannabinoids and terpenes (among other compounds). Importantly, however, it doesn’t burn the plant material or produce smoke.

Possibly thanks to the lack of smoke, vaping weed produces a much more subtle, manageable high compared to smoking. What’s more, it’s very easy to take small doses with a dry herb vape. You can simply turn it on, take a few inhales, then turn it off until you fancy another few hits.

Which brings me to my next point...

  • Pace yourself
  • When it comes to weed, less is often more. What I mean by that is this: while moderate-to-high does of THC can produce negative effects, low doses of THC can produce very positive effects - such as relaxation, relief and a boost in mood.

This was explored in a2017 study that found a low dose of THC produces “stress-relieving effects”, but that higher doses may increase negative mood. For many people, just one ortwo puffs on a joint or vape may be enough for experiencing the positive effects of THC without the negative.

  • Avoid edibles bongs, dabs, big joints
  • Keeping with the theme of moderation, it may be wise for those sensitive to THC to avoid certain consumption methods. Dabbing should not be undertaken lightly by anyone non-experienced with cannabis, nor should bongs or even strong joints.

And then there’s edibles, which are certainly no joke. Everyone should be very careful when it comes to edibles, even if they are used to smoking. That’s because THC metabolises differently when eaten, which results in effects that are multiple times stronger than when inhaled.

Just take a few minutes to Google “edibles gone wrong” and you’ll see what I mean.

  • Add CBD
  • This one can’t be stressed enough. There’re a number of studies that have shown CBD can effectively counteract the undesireable effects of THC, such as anxiety and paranoia.

This study, for example, found that “CBD blocks the ability of THC to overstimulate the ERK pathway in the hippocampus and thus prevent its negative side-effects.”

An ideal ratio of CBD to THC seems to be about 1:1. If you can find this in a strain, then perfect. If not, try adding CBD to your weed in the form of CBD flower, hash or extract. You could also try taking some CBD oil before you consume THC.

How long does a weed high last?

When inhaled, the effects of THC take less than a minute to come on, and usually last for somewhere between 1-3 hours, give or take.

When eaten, THC can take up to an hour or more to fully kick in, and can last for anywhere up to 8 hours. There are multiple accounts of people eating large doses of THC in the evening and waking up the next day still high.

However, there are some things you can do to sober up quicker than usual, which we’ll cover in the next section.

7 things to try when you’re too high

    - Vape CBD

As mentioned earlier, CBD has the power to counteract the anxiety, paranoia and short-term memory problems that THC can produce. This makes it very useful for when you get too high.

If you’re in the midst of a THC overdose, the best way to administer CBD would be via a vape - our super potent45% CBD distillate vape pens would be perfect in this situation.

Inhalation is a very fast way to get CBD into your bloodsteam, and the effects will be noticeable after a few puffs. CBD oil may be effective over a longer period, but it can take a while to take effect.

    - Smell black pepper

Pepper contains a terpene that is also found in many cannabis strains. It’s called beta-caryophyllene (BCP) and is known to haveanti-anxiety effects by activating the CB2 receptor.

Black pepper also contains the terpenes pinene, which has been shown to promote mental clarity, and mycrene, which has sedative properties. Both of these could also play a role in pepper’s power to negate THC effects.

While there isn’t much in the way of scientific studies proving pepper works for coming down off a THC high, there’re enough anecdotal reports and scientific rationale for it to be worth trying. Just be careful not to snort the pepper - burning sinuses probably won’t help you relax.

    - Eat pine nuts or pistachios

In the first century, Roman natural philosopher Pliny wrote of cannabis:

“The gelotophyllis [‘leaves of laughter’ = cannabis] grows in Bactria and along the Borysthenes. If this be taken in myrrh and wine all kinds of phantoms beset the mind, causing laughter which persists until the kernels of pine-nuts are taken with pepper and honey in palm wine.”

Pine nuts contain pinene, which may explain their historic use. Pistachios, which also contain pinene, were recommended in the13th century

    - Drink lemon water

Sipping on some lemon juice combined with fresh water is one of the oldest treatments for THC intoxication. It was first mentioned in 10th century Persia by celebrated Muslim philosopher Al-Rāzī, who is considered to have been the greatest physician of the Islamic world.

It’s thought that the terpene limonene, which is also found in other acidic fruits, is to thank for lemon’s THC-fighting effects.

    - Move mindfully

This one has been massive for me personally. When I get too high and start to feel uncomfortable, I’ve found moving mindfully to be so helpful in taking me out of my mind and forcing me to be present in the world.

By “moving mindfully”, I mean to do some intentional movement, whether it be some stretching, yoga, jumping, running, walking or even cycling. The key is, though, to do something that requires a bit of focus outward on your environment. This is why technical activities are best.

I advise you to get on Youtube and search for a 15-minute mobility/stretch/yoga follow-along and give it a go. You’ll find that the need to focus on the outside world - your position, balance, etc. - helps you enjoy the moment rather than focus on negative thoughts and feelings.

    - Breathe deeply

Deep, rhythmic breathing into your diaphragm is a powerful way to relax your nervous system, reduce stress, and feel good. Do it while moving mindfully for extra calmness.

You could also try some guided breathing practices on youtube, although I personally find the combination of movement and breathing to be more effective at getting me out of my head than breathing alone.

    - Try nicotine

While tobacco gets a bad rep these days, nicotine is actually a very useful compound when used appropriately. You see, nicotine is a powerful cognitive-enhancer - it increases alertness, improves mood, boosts concentration and memory.

Nicotine is thought to do this by increasing levels of norepinephrine and beta-endorphin, which reduce anxiety. One study found that adding tobacco to a cannabis joint doesn't improve the experience of being stoned, but it does reduce the memory impairment inherent to cannabis use.

Now that doesn’t mean you should smoke tobacco with your weed, but it does show you the potential that nicotine has to improve cognition, especially if you find yourself pranging out after a bong too many.

    Don’t…

You now know what you should do if you’re too high. Here’s what you shouldn’t do:

    - Panic

It’s near enough impossible to die from a THC overdose, and any uncomfortable effects WILL recede in a couple of hours. Therefore, there is no need to panic.

    - Eat loads of sugar

In a lot of ways, sugar acts like a drug - with its highs and lows. Therefore, avoid scoffing your face with sugary treats as the subsequent sugar crash will not help you in your quest to feel better.

    Summary

We’ve all been there: took a few hits too many and now you’re feeling awkward and uncomfortable. Perhaps even anxious or a bit paranoid.

But don’t worry. There’s plenty you can do to calm down and enjoy the experience. Try some pepper, lemon and pine nuts for their terpene content. Take a few drags of a CBD vape and then do some conscious movement, like yoga - and breathe. Maybe put on a low dose nicotine patch.

After all this, you’ll have a handle on your high and you’ll be ready to make the most of it. Let us know if you have any more tips in the comments.

The Art Of Rolling - 5 Ways To Impress The Sesh

    March 26, 2023

Joint rolling is one of the highest art forms. Unlike paintings and sculptures which express beauty via form the gloriousness of a joint is also found in its function effects way it magically combusts into ashes smoke.

Ok, that might all be a bit lofty and pretentious, but there’s some truth to it. In fact, there are some people who take the craft very seriously. Such as @michelangeroll, who has a penchant for creating smokable joints shaped like all sorts of animals, objects and people.

Some are even more niche, focussing on creating art with just the filter or roach of a joint. Check outthis Rick and Morty-inspired piece from Reddit user /Lonely-Stoner_.

If that has whetted your appetite to up your joint rolling game, we have some slightly simpler ideas for you to attempt...

    1. King L

A ‘King L’ joint is basically an extra long joint. It’s made by sticking twoking-size paperstogether at a right angle to create an ‘L’ shape. After ripping off some of the extra paper, you can then roll your joint as normal - although it will be a bit more fiddly.

While it’s not the most technical joint to roll, thanks to the impressive size of the finished piece, it can be a good trick to bust out when you have multiple people in the sesh. You can followthis tutorial for a complete how-to.

    2. Back roll

Otherwise known as a back strap, a back rolled joint is when you flip the rolling paper so the sticky side is on the underside. You then roll the joint by tucking the sticky side into the back side before sticking down. This leaves you with a long strip of excess paper, which you can burn off in dramatic fashion to impress your peers.

Back rolls are not just a novelty that are fun to make, they are also favoured by many smokers as you end up smoking less paper, making for a more flavourful experience.

    3. Cross joint

Made famous by Seth Rogan and James Franco in the iconic stoner comedy Pineapple Express, the cross joint is now something that has been attempted by most smokers.

A cross joint is made by rolling two joints, one long and one short. Using a pin or needle, you then make a hole in both joints before threading the smaller one through the longer one. The hole in the short joint acts as an airhole. Use a bit of gummed paper to then secure the joint and make it airtight.

To light a cross joint, you’ll need a friend to light two ends as you light the third. Once you’ve done this with a pal, the bond between you will never be broken.

    4. Tulip

I believe the tulip joint to be a Dutch innovation, although that may only be because tulips are associated with the Netherlands and it was a Dutch guy who first showed me the tulip. Either way, tulip joints are pretty cool - and they get you smoked.

This is a slightly more advanced roll than the previous three, but with some practice can be a great sesh-stopper. The general idea is to create the stem of the tulip with a long roach card, then build a wide and short cone with a couple of king skins.

You fill the stubby cone with loads of weed before attaching it to the stem. What you should be left with is a bulbous tulip-like joint. Light the bulb, toke away and the entire bulb will become the cherry of the joint. Here’s a good step-by-step guide to help you.

    5. Creative sculpture

Now, all these suggestions are cool and WILL impress your fellow seshers. However, the great thing about art is that you always have the opportunity to express yourself uniquely. Therefore, why not get really creative and try to roll/build something completely original.

Check out the@national_joint_league on Instagram for some more inspiration. Here, you’ll see everything from smokable Mario, The Grinch and Rick & Morty, to smokable snakes, guns and birds. There really is no limit.

    Summary

If you’re a creative type who loves to smoke weed, why not combine them both ans explore the art of joint-rolling. A few ideas to get you started include the back strap, the tulip and the famous cross joint.

However, there really is no limit to what you can create - and smoke. So get imagining!

What is Delta-8 and is it legal?

    March 26, 2023

Delta-8 is one of many cannabinoids found in cannabis that has recently become popular due to its similarity to delta-9 - the main cannabinoid that gets you high. Delta 8 is present in all cannabis plants, despite being THC, CBD or CBG dominant.

The similarities between the two cannabinoids lie in their chemical structures and their names. Delta-8, similar to delta-9, is a form of THC and will yield a high for anyone that ingests it. The high from delta-8 is much less potent than delta-9 though.

Much of the delta-8 that exists is derived from CBD dominant hemp plants, where the CBD is first extracted and a chemical reaction is conducted to isomerize delta-8. The cannabinoid has grown in popularity due to increased availability in the US and the 2018 farm bill that deemed hemp to be legally grown and used for extractions all over the US.

    How is delta-8 made?

Naturally all plants hold trace amounts of delta-8. However it would be unfeasible to extract thousands of kilograms of cannabis just to get a few drops of delta-8.

Instead, manufacturers tak CBD isolate, extracted from hemp, and isomerize (a synthesis to change the isomer) the CBD into delta-8. As such, delta-8 requires more processing and is more expensive to manufacture than CBD - this is why it is often more expensive than CBD.

    Delta-9 vs CBD

Delta-8 behaves more like delta-9 when ingested - it binds to the body’s endocannabinoid system differently to CBD which is why it is intoxicating.

CBD will not get you high, and the negative effects that can come from delta-8 or delta-9 such as paranoia and anxiety will not surface.

Both cannabinoids are being researched by pharmaceutical companies for their effect on an array of health issues.

    Delta-8 vs Delta-9 THC

Both delta-8 and delta-9 bind to the body’s endocannabinoid system, causing a high feeling. Chemically they both feature the “double bond” that is known to produce the intoxicating effects. However, the placement of this bond is where they are different; delta-8 has the double bond on the 8th carbon, whereas delta-9 has it on the 9th. Small change, huge effect!

    What does Delta-8 feel like?

Delta-will will get you high, even in lower doses. Anyone that knows the effects of delta-9 wil notice some similarities, however the intensity of the delta-8 high is dramatically lower.

Because the high from delta-8 is much weaker than delta-9, many consumers prefer it as a foundation cannabinoid. Many people have issues with the intense feelings brought on by THC, with negative effects such as anxiety and paranoia.

Many delta-8 fans enjoy it’s pleasant effects such as mild euphoria, happiness and uplifted feelings. Medical studies are being undertaken to follow its impact on helping patients manage chronic pain, insomnia and more.

    How much Delta-8 to take?

For regular THC users, delta-8 will be noticeably weak in terms of the high. For a brand new consumer though, delta-8 could be a great introduction to psychoactive cannabinoids as the risk of negative effects is greatly diminished.

Within the delta-8 market, suppliers often dose edible delta-8 products with double the strength of their delta-9 counterparts. A shop with 10mg delta-9 gummies may also have 25mg delta-8 gummies.

Because research is minimal, we don’t know how strong delta-8 really is and how much people need to get the desired effects. It’s always recommended to take a little bit at first to get a feel for how the cannabinoid affects you. Depending on how that initial dose feels, you could take more or settle with the initial amount.

Vaping delta-8 would bring on the effects almost immediately. Taking a delta-8 dible will take much longer to kick in, even an hour or two later.

    Is Delta-8 legal?

Depending where you are in the world, delta-8 can be legal. Even in the US, where the farm bill passed in 2018, there are some states that have prohibited this cannabinoid. Most of Europe, the UK included, have deemed delta-8 to be illegal. This has not stopped it’s sale in prohibited regions and we call to question the quality of those unregulated synthesized products.

    Is Delta-8 safe?

If purchased in a legal country/state, delta-8 stands a strong chance of being safe to consume. However, because the cannabinoid is mostly synthesized from CBD, there are big risks if the delta-8 is made by novices or groups that cut corners. It is possible to isomerize other versions of THC from CBD, not just delta-8. Scientists are discovering new variants of THC such as THCP which is up to 30 times stronger than delta-9. You could see that this could pose a problem if synthesised by a bad unregulated manufacturer…

It would be difficult to find delta-8 that can be deemed safe in most of Europe because the delta-8 on offer is illegal, and while the same could potentially be said about THC delta-9, delta-9 is not chemically synthesized - it occurs naturally.

5 Ways To Use CBD Isolate

    December 29, 2021

That’s right, CBD isolate is completely legal, 100% THC-free, and can be used in a number of creative ways. Before we break down the ways it can be used, let’s discuss what CBD isolate is exactly, and why you should use it.

    What is CBD isolate

Firstly, CBD (short for cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid found in the flowers (or buds) of cannabis plants. Unlike THC, it does not get you high.

It has, however, been found to have a whole host of positive health properties. Studies have shown CBD to haveanti-inflammatory,anti-anxiety andantidepressant effects.

CBD isolate is, quite simply, pure CBD. It differs from CBD-rich extracts or concentrates in that all other cannabinoids, terpenes and other compounds have been removed entirely. The result is a clean white powder.

    Why use CBD isolate

  • THC-free
  • CBD isolate is completely free from THC, meaning you need not fear any intoxicating effects or returning a positive drug test. This is vital for many people, including those who are sensitive to THC and those who are subject to drug testing for work or other reasons.

  • Cheap
  • High-quality CBD products can be expensive. For example, a 1,000mg CBD oil is around £60 as standard. 1,000mg of CBD isolate, however, generally costs around £15.

  • Versatile
  • CBD is incredibly versatile. If you’re the creative type, you can really have some fun experimenting with CBD isolate by infusing it into all sorts. We’ll cover some of the best ways below.

5 ways of using CBD isolate

    1. Mix with weed

CBD has the unique ability to counteract some of the less desirable effects of THC, such as anxiety and paranoia - which the majority of cannabis consumers experience at some point.

For this reason, sprinkling some CBD isolate into your usual spliff, bong or vape along with weed is a great way to make your high more enjoyable. It can also helpprevent short-term memory impairment, which THC is known to cause.

    1. Cooking

Homemade CBD brownies anyone? That’s right, with CBD isolate, it’s very easy to infuse it into some butter or oil in order to cook or bake with.

All you need to do to infuse CBD isolate into butter or oil is combine the two over a low heat for an hour or two. CBD is oil soluble, meaning it dissolves in oil readily, but not water soluble, meaning it doesn’t dissolve in water.

Therefore, you can make a huge range of CBD-infused treats, such as cookies, brownies, chocolate, etc - anything that has oil or butter as an ingredient, basically.

    1. Make your own oils

CBD isolate can also be used to make your own CBD oils. As stated above, you can infuse CBD isolate into any type of oil. MCT, coconut oil, olive oil and hemp seed oil are all great options.

Not only will this be much cheaper than buying a pre-made CBD oil, you also have complete control over the ingredients, the process, and the amount of CBD in the oil. You can even add other plant extracts to create unique blends for specific purposes.

    1. Dabbing

Dabbing is becoming more and more popular among recreational cannabis consumers. It’s basically a way to vaporise cannabis concentrates and extracts with the use of a bong-like glass pipe known as a dab rig.
